A 20th‑century solid oak Jacobean/Louis XIII revival low rectangular bench (footstool) with a hand‑carved top featuring a central floral rosette and a deep relief geometric border, measuring 18.5 cm high, 29.5 cm wide and 20.5 cm deep, of European origin, in good condition with a natural dark patina and minor signs of age and wear; the central crossbar has a fracture visible in photos but does not affect stability.
Description from the seller
Resting Bench / Small Jacobean Side Table, Late 19th Century or Early 20th Century (Victorian / Revivalist Period).
Magnificent low rectangular bench (footstool-type or teapot table) in solid oak, entirely hand-carved. The top features rich central ornamentation in a floral rosette with a geometrical border carved in deep relief. The structure rests on four short turned legs (barley twist) connected by H-shaped stretchers also turned, giving great stability and robustness to the piece. Jacobean / Louis XIII-inspired style.
Good overall condition, presenting a natural dark patina that is uniform. Wear due to age and use is visible on the edges and feet, attesting to its age. The structure is solid, but the central beam has a marked fracture in the photos, which does not affect the piece’s structure or stability; there is also a flaw in one corner of the top as noted in the photos.
