Description from the seller

Work Description:
In 2019 the original sculpture “WSK-059” from 2011 was cut into its 120 individual pieces and, according to a pre-set grid, transformed into the offered wall object. The original material color black thus reappeared at the cut interfaces beneath the white paint.

Artist Statement:
For more than 30 years Markus Krug has been exploring, in interdependent series, structural concepts. Planning, clarity, execution: in various techniques, sculptures, objects and installations are created; they resemble each other and could be connected like a kind of matrix.
Markus Krug creates homogeneous, reduced works from a wide range of materials: paper, cardboard, Styropor, or polystyrene foam. Due to the manual working process, minimal differences arise, which are highlighted or masked by applying acrylic paint, primarily in black or white. The viscosity, quantity, and handling of the paint are repeatedly changed from object to object, while the connection to the origin always remains.
