This spectacular original artwork by veteran Disney artist Tony Fernandez transforms Donald Duck through the haunting imagery of Nosferatu, creating a striking tribute to one of the great icons of classic horror cinema.
Donald appears as the sinister vampire Count Orlok, descending a dark staircase with elongated fingers, piercing red eyes and a wonderfully menacing expression. Behind him, an enormous shadow dominates the composition, while bats, stark architecture and the dramatic black-and-white palette recreate the unsettling atmosphere of early expressionist cinema.
Executed in acrylic and ink, the impressive 50 x 42 cm format gives the piece exceptional visual presence. Deep blacks contrast dramatically with the atmospheric grey washes, while Donald’s vivid yellow bill and legs provide a brilliant flash of Disney identity within the monochromatic scene.
The large hand-painted “Nosferatu” lettering completes the composition like a vintage horror movie poster, turning the entire piece into an imaginary encounter between classic Disney animation and legendary gothic cinema.
