Description from the seller
Not your doll - 49 (n.765)
The dimensions are: 50.00 cm x 40.00 cm
Acrylics on small pieces of paper on canvas (mixed media)

I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash.

Series "Not your doll" - In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces created.
On these little pieces of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there. It often happens this way when we truly approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not.
"Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent female faces with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, I’m your doll and you can do with me what you want" with everything that lies behind it, up to, unfortunately, violence.
The surface features small reliefs and I like to caress it, feel it...
I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust.

Born in 1974 I am self-taught.
After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I returned to the “two dimensions” for reasons of time and space, giving up sculpture and focusing on acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real.
For me painting is about “freezing time” at that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and thus my works are “worn, eroded by time.” Sometimes objects in my paintings are sections of walls also worn by time, with moss and fungi that – over time – grow on the surface.
Time passing inexorably is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I adore sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceivable both by touch and to the naked eye.
Recently, after several years in which my works were made from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and repeated grids with mathematical rigor that, viewed up close, seem to form a colorful abstract picture but the further you move away the more a portrait emerges made of many painted wooden discs.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not the dolls of their partners and they cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
