Original green Tour de France 1996 jersey worn by Erik Zabel of Team Deutsche Telekom and personally signed on the white chest, featuring PMU branding and the Nike swoosh with Nalini as kit producer.
Description from the seller
This is an original green jersey (maillot vert) from the 1996 Tour de France, worn by and signed for the legendary German sprinter Erik Zabel of Team Deutsche Telekom.
Sporting context :
• Rider: Erik Zabel, one of the most successful sprinters of the 1990s and early 2000s.
• Achievement: Zabel won the green jersey for the points classification in 1996. This was the very first in his historic run of six consecutive green jerseys (1996 to 2001) in the Tour de France.
• Signature: On the right on the white chest panel sits the original signature of Erik Zabel himself.
Sponsoring & Design :
• PMU (Pari Mutuel Urbain): The French horse-racing organization was at the time the main sponsor of the points classification. This is reflected in the prominent logo with the red galloping racehorses on the chest and sleeves.
• Team Deutsche Telekom: Because Zabel rode for this German outfit, the team sponsor logos are subtly integrated in the white central panel. You can see the familiar magenta 'T' and the mobile network logo 'D1'.
• Apparel producers: The jersey was produced by Nike (whose well-known swoosh is on the right chest), while the Telekom team kit at the time was made by the Italian brand Nalini.
