Seiko Chronograph Automatic UFO, ref. 6138-0011, 44 mm stainless steel case, black dial, stainless steel bracelet, automatic Calibre 6138B movement with two-counter chronograph, produced June 1976 (serial 669075); cosmetically exceptional, sold AS-IS and needing mechanical servicing.
Description from the seller
Here is a vintage chrono icon from the 1970s: the famous Seiko Automatic Chronograph, nicknamed "UFO" or "Yachtman" due to its unmistakable oversized round case in the shape of a flying saucer. It is reference 6138-0011, produced in June 1976 (as evidenced by the serial number 669075 on the case back). A specimen that stands out for its exceptionally pristine aesthetic condition, extremely rare to find in these terms today.
ESTETIC CONDITION (Exceptional / Near Mint)
44 mm stainless steel case in extraordinary condition, with defined edges and original period finishes well preserved.
Original black dial with silver-tone counters in contrast, in perfect condition, sharp graphics, clean indices and well-preserved orange hands.
Original internal tachymeter bezel in excellent condition.
Original Seiko stainless steel bracelet in excellent condition, with tightly set links and folded clasp perfectly functioning.
MECHANICAL STATE AND OPERATION
Automatic mechanical movement Caliber Seiko 6138B, equipped with manual winding function and chronograph with column-wheel.
The movement is currently not running and the watch is sold for servicing.
By turning the crown for winding, the hands move and the time/date quickset mechanism responds smoothly, confirming that the main train is not blocked or seized. It represents therefore a solid basis for a routine maintenance intervention by a watchmaker.
