Description from the seller

Elegant handmade solid-wood crucifix, crafted with a spruce structure and a hardwood base (likely oak), dating plausibly to the 1960s–1980s.

The work stands out for its sober, essential, and highly evocative style. The substantial dimensions (height 60 cm, arm width 34 cm) make it an object with presence, ideal for:

· domestic environment

· private chapel

· professional studio

· rustic or spiritual furnishings

· collection of contemporary sacred art

The cross has been treated with dark walnut mordant and finished with a traditional blend consisting of boiled linseed oil, pale oil, and turpentine essence. This type of finish provides:

· warm and deep tonalities

· natural textural effect

· non-plasticized protection

· soft and authentic patina

The intersection is embellished with a natural fiber rope binding, handmade with a diagonal cross motif, an ornamental element that recalls the post-conciliar spiritual aesthetics and religious craftsmanship of the 1960s.

The base, in solid wood with a deliberately rustic and tactile upper part, creates an interesting contrast between the worked surface and the smooth portion, enhancing the object's character.

Not an industrial object, but a manually crafted piece, with coherent and refined aesthetic choices.
