Description from the seller

BOAT AMONG THE WILLOWS is a vibrant and expressive 70 x 100 cm painting by artist Flavia Delgado. This painting portrays a serene and enveloping scene that transports the viewer to a hidden corner of nature, where time seems to have stood still. A solitary boat rests on the still water, beneath the hanging canopy of a grand willow. The composition is framed in intense shadows, as if the viewer were hidden among the trees, watching in silence.

Cream and black tones dominate the scene, but the brushstrokes of blue and red in the water lilies introduce a life-affirming accent, like a subtle promise of lasting beauty. The work rests on a powerful graphic treatment, almost like a cut-out silhouette, giving it an air of an old engraving or literary illustration.

There is a sense of mystery and nostalgia in this image: a place where perhaps someone was, waited, or left something behind. The boat, devoid of human figures, suggests a presence that is no longer there, but whose imprint remains floating on the waters.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
