AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

THE GRAND BALL is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the mystery and elegance of Venetian masked balls, reinterpreted through a pop and contemporary aesthetic.

The work depicts two masked female figures in an intimate, theatrical close-up, evoking the glamour, secrecy, and sophistication of the great European carnivals. The composition creates an enveloping, cinematic atmosphere where identity and fantasy blend.

Flavia Delgado combines influences from pop art, vintage poster design, and Baroque ornamentation through bold black lines, strong contrasts, and decorative details inspired by the ancient Venetian masks.

The color palette, dominated by electric blues, vibrant reds, ivory tones, and deep blacks, provides visual drama and a refined aesthetic that recalls mid-20th-century theater and show posters.

THE GRAND BALL celebrates mystery, beauty, and the festive universe of masks, becoming an ideal piece for elegant interiors, sophisticated spaces, or collections inspired by theatrical art and European retro aesthetics.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
