Refined oval frame for a religious devotion, wall-mounted, under original domed glass.

It houses a crucifix sculpted in richly worked silvered metal, bearing openwork ends with Neo-Gothic/Celtic-inspired motifs and the INRI inscription above Christ. The crucifix is elegantly mounted on a red pleated velvet background, creating a strong visual contrast.

Subject / Motif: Crucifix / Christ on the Cross under a dome.

Structure: Ovoid wood frame stained / marqueted with moldings, with protective domed glass.

Materials: Silvered metal (crucifix), pleated red velvet (background), domed glass, wooden frame.

Fixing: Original back wall-mounting ring.

Period: Late 19th century – early 20th century (circa 1890 – 1920).

Condition:
Very good overall condition for its age. The domed glass is intact with no cracks. The silvered metal shows a nice patina. Back sealed with its protective paper and the original hanging ring.
