Magnificent and elegant oval wall devotional frame with convex glass.
This model stands out for its rich carved wooden frame featuring floral motifs (roses and foliage in relief at the four cardinal points).
It houses an imposing cross in Neo-Gothic/Celtic style with a decorative halo in the background and the figure of the crucified Christ in silvered metal. The background is dressed with a stretched velvet fabric in rosy/nude hues.
Subject / Motif: Crucifix / Christ on the cross under an oval globe.
Structure & Frame: Oval tinted wooden frame carved with rose motifs in relief, equipped with original convex protective glass.
Materials: Silvered metal (cross and Christ), pink/beige velvet (background), carved wood and convex glass.
Mounting: Original rear wall-mounting ring.
Period & Provenance:
Period: First half of the 20th century (circa 1910 – 1940).
Origin: Western Europe (Belgium / France).
Condition:
Good overall condition. The convex glass is perfectly intact. The wooden frame shows a very beautiful patina with well-preserved carvings. The silvered metal of the cross shows small traces of natural oxidation and aging that attest to its authenticity. Back closed with its small original attachment.
