A Rare and Unusually Decorative Antique Damask Table Linen

What immediately sets this antique table linen apart is its exceptionally rich damask design, one I have not encountered before. Far from the more familiar restrained patterns, this piece is lavishly decorated with floral bouquets of petunias, wheat sheaves and leaves, creating a design that is both distinctive and wonderfully eye-catching.

The decoration is not limited to the border. The same floral motifs extend into the centre, arranged in stripe-like bands that give the entire piece a remarkable sense of continuity and decorative richness.

At the centre, two sets of initials, V.L., have been embroidered in heavy relief, standing prominently against the patterned damask background and adding a personal touch to this already unusual piece.

Two matching sets of napkins bearing the same initials are also available. I have, however, decided to offer them separately, giving collectors the opportunity to acquire the table linen on its own or seek out the matching napkins as separate lots.
