AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pommard Clos de la plâtière 2006
1er cru
Prince Florent de Merode

The estate of Prince Florent de Mérode on the Côte de Beaune worked on low yields, producing rare quantities. In 2009, a large portion of the estate's famous vineyards was acquired by the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, adding to the historical prestige and scarcity of these old Mérode bottlings

This Clos de la Platière 2006 receives a deep purple dressing gown with ruby reflections. Its bouquet of undergrowth and red fruits expresses all the nobility of Pinot Noir. Fleshy and with a pleasant roundness, the palate has resin and depth.

September 8, 2020 - First of 20 half bottles...
Not decanted, but I believe it would have warranted an hour or so even in this format.
Modest tint, very Pinot-like hue showing little aging.
Clearly a high-acidity vintage. With a little luck, this wine will age like a 1996 Pommard.
Fairly primary fruit still with cherries, brambly aromas, spices; all fairly tightly wound in acidity. The balance is excellent and I'm confident this wine will improve for another decade. I have found that wines from this producer take time, which is quite normal.
