Description from the seller
Elio Lazzari (Venice, 1942) is one of the best-known contemporary Venetian painters, appreciated for his evocative views of the lagoon and of daily Venetian life. Described by critics as "one of the last great vedutists of Venice," he has exhibited in important Italian and international venues, including New York, Washington, and Luxembourg. His works are present in numerous private collections and represent an authentic testimony of the Venetian painting tradition.
In this painting, the painter captures one of the most iconic and romantic views of Venice: a sheet of water in the foreground on which elegant gondolas float moored to the traditional landing poles, framed by the façade of a historic palace in warm terracotta tones and a decorated balcony.
The brushwork is rich, vibrant, and of great expressive immediacy. Lazzari demonstrates great mastery in rendering the play of light and shadow, as well as the suggestive chromatic reflections of the palace and the boats reflected in the canal water. The composition has a nearly photographic and intimate cut, which lends the setting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Excellent overall conservation conditions, ready to be hung and to enhance both classical and modern environments.
A work of strong visual impact and excellent painting quality, ideal for collectors of Venetian art or for those who wish to bring a piece of Venice’s unique atmosphere into their home.
