Maurice Wolf antique pocket watch with a 50 mm 0.935 silver case and manual movement, reference 210043, front lid not closing properly, in good condition with visible signs of wear, weighing 91 g.
Description from the seller
The front lid does not close properly. Antique pocket watch with signs of wear. Diameter 5 cm. with a weight of 91 g.
- Material: The case is made of solid silver (hallmark 0.935 visible on the inner lid, indicating an alloy of 935/1000 silver, common in Swiss watches from that period).
- Brand/Logo: The INVAR logo (with the falling star/comet symbol) is engraved on the inner lid.
- Dial: White enamel dial with black Roman numerals, an outer minute track, and a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock.
- Seller: The dial bears the name Maurice Wolf, a well-known watchmaker and jeweler active in the Dutch East Indies.
High-quality Swiss lever escapement movement by Invar, produced by the manufacturer C.M.I. (Compagnie des Montres Invar).
• C.M.I.: This is embossed at the top and confirms the maker: Compagnie des Montres Invar (founded by Achille Hirsch in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland).
• The Crescent Moon and Crown: This stamp (right) is the German Reichsmark for silver. This means the watch was at the time exported to or certified for the German/European market before being sold through a jeweler (such as Maurice Wolf).
• 0,935 & Korhaan (Auerhahn): On the left the number 0.935 in an oval with above it the small Swiss silver hallmark of a capercaillie. This silver content (93.5% pure silver) was just slightly higher than standard sterling silver (92.5%) to comply with the strict import rules of Great Britain and Germany at that time.
Shipped by registered mail and well packaged."
