Description from the seller
“The Holy Bible, in French.” 1582.
Highly illustrated French Bible with hundreds of beautiful woodcuts.
The pages are browned throughout and have from early on up to about the middle continuous stains, which are usually located in the lower area.
Further back there are sometimes somewhat more pronounced spots in the margin area.
At the beginning there are isolated pages, partly with slight corner and edge restorations.
Page 1051/52 has a medium-sized corner tear at the bottom with some text loss.
The first eight leaves at the beginning and the first 16 pages are missing and have been rebound as facsimiles. Of these, the original pages 4/5, 11/12 and 13/14 are supplied loose as fragments.
Additionally, pages 141/42, 393/94, 1033, 1 blank leaf and the last 2 leaves are bound in as facsimiles.
Bound in a modern binding.
