Hans Böttcher (1897–1986) - Totenköpfe zu verkaufen, ink

Hans Böttcher (1897 – Berlin – 1986).

"Totenköpfe zu verkaufen!" [Skulls for Sale!].

Hand-signed ink drawing. Circa 1980.

Associated with late Expressionism and, in his later period, with abstract informal art, Böttcher was a member of the Association of Visual Artists in Berlin until 1933. During the Nazi regime in Germany, he was forbidden from painting, and a large portion of his early Expressionist-style works were classified as "degenerate art" and destroyed.
