Description from the seller
Art Deco - Oak extendable bookcase - bookstand with stylized supports
Arts & Crafts / Art Deco style
Netherlands, ca. 1920-1940
Charming extendable bookcase made of solid oak. Two adjustable supports with a stylized, curved bow-shaped slide back and forth over a long plank, so the rack can be adjusted to the number of books you want to place. The end of the plank is neatly rounded, with an upstanding rounded foot that carries the plank.
The wood has a warm honey-brown patina with a clearly visible oak grain and the typical shaded cross-section of oak in the supports. The construction is sturdy and simple: the supports are cut from a single piece and slide along the plank. On the plank small brass nails are visible, fitting for handcraft from that era.
Beautiful as a table model for cookbooks, magazines or small libraries, or as a decorative piece on a sideboard or in a cabinet.
Dimensions:
approx. 13.5 cm H
approx. 49.5 cm L
approx. 14.3 cm D
Ships well packed and insured.
