Description from the seller

Lot of French posters and graphic documents – Counter-culture, press and social movements – 1960s-1970s

Important lot of French posters, placards, leaflets and graphic documents, mainly dating from the 1960s-1970s.

Very varied set composed of documents of different formats, ranging from small sheets and illustrated leaflets to large posters, the largest measuring about 90 × 61 cm.

The lot has particular interest for the history of French counter-culture and social movements in the early 1970s, with several documents from the protest environment after May 68.

Among them are several pieces relating to the Front de Libération des Jeunes (FLJ) and youth movements of that period, as well as documents devoted to prisons, individual freedoms, social movements and the various forms of political and cultural protest.

Among the notable pieces is the poster:
« The cops and the assassins have chosen violence » – Front de Libération des Jeunes, a characteristic document of the militant French graphic production of the early 1970s.

The lot also includes several illustrated and satirical compositions, notably « Halt to intellectual terrorism », as well as various leaflets and posters related to the protest movements and to youth.

The set is completed by several large French posters from popular press, notably linked to France Dimanche and Détective, presenting the spectacular typography and photographic compositions characteristic of the press of the 1960s-1970s.

Also present are various graphic documents, drawings and printed compositions. Some pieces include annotations, drawings, handwritten interventions or painted elements, which enhances the singular and documentary nature of the set.

The lot is sold in its entirety as presented in the photographs.

Maximum dimensions: about 90 × 61 cm.
Other documents have variable dimensions.

Condition: generally variable given the age and nature of these documents. Presence of old fold lines, yellowing of paper, small tears, marks, stains and signs of handling or storage on some pieces. Some posters have been kept folded. The photographs allow precise assessment of the condition of each item and are an integral part of the description.

Particularly interesting set for a collector of vintage posters, political and social documents, French counter-culture, 1960s-1970s graphic design, or archives related to the post-May 1968 era.
