Hummel, Goebel - Statue, Heilige Sint-Antonius met baby Jezus - 28 cm - Porcelain - 1950

A porcelain sculpture of Saint Anthony with baby Jesus; made by Goebel Sacrart in West Germany. The Goebel brand indicates that the figurine dates from the period 1950-1959 (Tmk2).
The stance of Saint Anthony, his youthful look, the way he holds the child, is all expressive and affectionate. The baby, who resembles a real healthy infant, reaches with his little hand toward Saint Anthony’s face. In the other hand he holds a ball. The way his little feet are crossed and his toes curl is so lifelike.
H 28 cm x at the bottom 7 cm. Signed Germany, Sacrart and a V with a full bee.
