Description from the seller

Pair of antique George II silver candlesticks

A wonderful and magnificent pair of early heavy cast antique silver candlesticks, dating from the mid-18th century. One of the oldest pairs of candlesticks on Catawiki. The family crest is particularly interesting, bearing a strong resemblance to the heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales, although the crown is missing.

Made in London, 1752 and 1763 (274 and 263 years old).
Made by John Cafe (1752) and William Cafe (1763).
Fully English hallmarked for sterling 925 silver.

The dimensions of this fine pair of hand-made antique silver candlesticks are:
Height 22.5 cm (8.86 inch)
Width at base 13.3 × 13.3 cm (5.24 × 5.24 inch)
Approx. 546 + 518 = 1064 grams / 34.21 troy ounces (the two bobèches weigh 121 grams together).

Condition: These antique cast silver candlesticks are a magnificent gauge of silver, of exceptional quality and in outstanding presentation condition. The cast ornamentation remains remarkably sharp throughout, and the hallmarks are clearly legible.
