Description from the seller
Elli Malevolti - Large sculpture of a duck/goose in brass and wood pulp - Italy, 1970s/1980s
Fascinating and refined naturalistic sculpture depicting a poised duck with the beak turned upward, created by the renowned Italian designer Elli Malevolti.
The work dates to the late 20th century (roughly the 70s/80s) and is a perfect example of the Tuscan style of that period, highly sought after by modernist and Hollywood Regency collectors.
The piece is signed with the inscription "E. Malevolti" on the back of the body, ensuring its total authenticity.
Construction features and materials:
• Body: Made with the typical craft blend, a special wood pulp and composite resin that allows extraordinary detail. The plumage is meticulously incised and hand-finished with a splendid brown-copper patina in warm tones that mimic antique wood.
• Legs and Beak: Elements applied in solid brass with a beautiful natural patina of time, creating an elegant and distinctive color contrast.
Dimensions and Weight:
• Height: 21.5 cm
• Width: 9 cm
• Depth: 15 cm
• Weight: 522 grams
The item is in excellent vintage condition, structurally whole and solid. The patina of the wood pulp is well preserved, and the brass retains its original shine enriched by a subtle and fascinating age patina. The eyes are present and intact. (Please carefully view the rich photo gallery, which is an integral part of the description).
