Description from the seller
Not your doll - 50 (n.766)
The dimensions are: 50.00 cm x 40.00 cm
Acrylics on small pieces of paper on canvas (mixed media)
Not framed; shipped rolled.
I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small recycled paper pieces: everyday paper is transformed into art rather than ending up in the trash.

Series "Not your doll" - In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest works I have produced.
On these little pieces of paper you can read scattered words and phrases here and there. Often it happens this way when we truly approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not.
"Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to depict women's faces with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls, and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll and you can do whatever you want with me" with all that lies behind it, up to and including, unfortunately, violence.
The surface features small reliefs and I like to caress it, feel it...
I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust.

This work is unique and original.
Each work is securely packed, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, with an included Certificate of Authenticity.
I use the courier provided directly by Catawiki and a tracking number for the shipment will be provided.
This work will be shipped unframed and un-stretched as it will be shipped rolled. The canvas dimensions are larger than the painted dimensions because the extra surface will be useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame.
It is recommended to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on a suitable frame.
The images showing the work in interior settings are for illustrative purposes only and proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description.
Different light sources can give different colors in photos.

Born in 1974, I am self-taught.
After an initial period devoted to sculpture, there was a long stop of almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for time and space, neglecting sculpture and dedicating myself to painting with acrylic.
I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real.
For me, painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are street scenes of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that over time grow on the surface.
Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I adore sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceivable both by touch and to the naked eye.
Recently, after several years during which my works were made from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use wooden discs painted and arranged in lines and repeated grids with mathematical rigor that viewed up close seem to form a colorful abstract painting, but as you move away a portrait emerges from the many painted wooden discs.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce women's faces, precisely to give them a voice when they lack the strength or courage to report that they are not their partners’ dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
