Two P J Maul letter scales from Hamburg, Germany, dating to about 1940–1950, made of cast iron and aluminium, black and measuring 34 cm high, 17 cm wide, and 17 cm deep, in good used condition and in working order, with three weighing ranges on the first scale and two on the second; weights not included.
Description from the seller
Two letter- or parcel-scales from P J MAUL of Hamburg.
These are two models, the largest of their kind.
The first has three measuring ranges, 2 kg, 600 g and 100 g. By simply connecting or releasing the pins you can use the three measuring ranges. The third range can be used by tilting the large counterweight. A very simple yet ingenious system. I have placed photos in which it is always visible that the pins (or needles) still indicate the exact weight perfectly. There is a small counterweight to use the needle up to 100 g. In one of the foot supports there is a dial wheel mounted to set very precisely to '0'.
The second has two measuring ranges, 2 kg and 250 g. The counterweight does not need to be tilted here; simply connect the two arms to reach 2 kg, releasing the arms from each other makes the scale read 250 g. Here too you can see that these are still working perfectly, with the weights on.
Maul is known for its precision measuring instruments; the company is, by the way, still active.
Both scales are very easy to take apart for compact storage. The 'JM' logo is stamped on the rear.
The weights are not included in this lot.
Look closely at the photos; you will see what you are bidding on.
Shipping, securely packed and with track and trace.
