Brand: Omega
Model: Seamaster
Reference Number: 166.067
Serial Number: 30307601
Movement: Omega Calibre 565 automatic, 24 jewels
Dial: Silver textured sparkle finish with applied indices
Case Size: 35 mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Stainless steel
Production Year: c. 1970
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Timegrapher: -2-4s/day, performing remarkably well.
Dial and Hands
The dial features an attractive frosted silver sparkle finish that catches the light beautifully. Applied indices with black inserts provide strong contrast, complemented by crisp printed text throughout. There is minor degradation to the lume dots at the index tips. The original stick hands also feature black inserts and show visible spotting and age-appropriate oxidation on their metal surfaces.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel tonneau case retains strong lines and sharp geometry. The original brushed finish on the top surfaces is well preserved, while the polished flanks exhibit light handling marks. The smooth polished bezel is integrated directly into the case and shows light surface wear. A domed acrylic crystal covers the dial and remains clear with no major scratches visible. The signed crown features the Omega logo and well-defined knurling. The screw-back case is adorned with a crisp Seamonster hippocampus medallion relief.
Movement
Inside beats the automatic Omega Calibre 565, a 24-jewel movement engraved with the watch serial number 30307601. The movement presents a clean overall appearance with bright copper-colored plating and no obvious signs of corrosion or damage. The timegrapher records a rate of -2-4s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The strap appears new or minimally worn.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The case retains strong lines and well-preserved brushing, with only light handling marks on the polished flanks and light surface wear on the bezel. The dial is highly attractive, though the hands show visible spotting and oxidation, and the lume dots exhibit minor degradation. The movement presents cleanly and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Seamaster offers a highly attractive frosted silver sparkle dial housed within a sharp tonneau case. The crisp Seamonster caseback medallion and the strong timekeeping performance of the Calibre 565 make this a particularly compelling vintage example.
History
Omega introduced the reference 166.067 in 1969 as a date-equipped addition to the Seamaster line. The stainless steel models were offered with specific dial variations, including the frosted silver sparkle texture seen here. The watch is powered by the Calibre 565, a movement known for operating at 19,800 vibrations per hour and providing a 50-hour power reserve. This caliber also introduced a quickset date mechanism, operated by repeatedly pulling the crown out. The screw-back case design continued the tradition of featuring the Seamaster hippocampus relief, ensuring the model remained instantly recognizable.
