Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is exceptionally clean and attractive, remaining well preserved over the decades. It features clean applied gold-tone indices, with only very minor dust or spotting visible under macro magnification. The dial text clearly reads Seiko Crown, Diashock 21 Jewels, and JAPAN. Gold-tone dauphine hands complete the face, showing age-appropriate patina with visible oxidation and spotting, particularly on the minute hand.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case displays honest wear consistent with age, retaining a polished finish with light surface scratches. The lugs maintain good shape and definition, while the thin polished bezel integrated with the case shows light surface wear. Some dirt accumulation is noted around the caseback threads. The watch is fitted with an unsigned knurled crown and a domed acrylic crystal that remains clear, with no major scratches or crazing visible.
Movement
Inside is the manual wind Seikosha Caliber 560, a 21-jewel movement. The plates are generally clean, exhibiting minor surface marks and no obvious signs of heavy corrosion, with clear engravings reading SEIKOSHA, 21 JEWELS, and 560. +45+50s/day. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch.

Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial is highly attractive with only minor spotting visible under magnification, while the original hands show visible oxidation. The stainless steel case displays light surface scratches and some dirt around the caseback threads, presenting honest wear. The crystal is clear, and the strap is in excellent shape. The manual-wind movement is running in operational condition.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Crown appeals through its beautifully preserved silver sunburst dial and sharp case profile. It offers an excellent opportunity to acquire an important foundational model in Japanese watchmaking, complete with the higher jewel-count Caliber 560.
History
Introduced in 1959 by Suwa Seikosha, the Seiko Crown succeeded the Seiko Marvel and brought an improved Diashock system, a larger balance, and a bigger mainspring barrel to the brand's lineup. It holds historical importance, serving as the direct architectural foundation for the very first Grand Seiko developed in 1960. The manual-winding Seikosha Caliber 560 operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour without a hacking mechanism. It was produced by Suwa Seikosha in both 19-jewel and 21-jewel grades, with this example featuring the 21-jewel specification.
