SOLORA pocket watch with manual wind movement, Swiss Made in the 1940s, chrome/nickel case, 53 mm lug width, over 50 mm case diameter, 96 g, model “Raro Orologio da Tasca SVEGLIARINO” featuring a double‑hinged back that folds into a desk stand and a mechanical alarm regulated by patent 227383, in very good condition with minimal signs of wear and in working order.
Description from the seller
Splendid and excellent example of mid-20th century Swiss travel engineering. This pocket watch houses the alarm complication "Svegliarino" (mechanical alarm) regulated by the famous Swiss patent Patent + 227383, filed by Baumgartner Frères in 1942. The mechanism allowed the convenience of an alarm clock compacted into the dimensions of a robust pocket watch.
Transformable Design "Desk Watch":
The distinctive feature of this lot is its case with a double hinged back. By prying on the external metal latch, the rear cover opens and serves as a solid pedestal. In this way the watch can be positioned vertically on the nightstand or desk, instantly transforming into a refined table alarm.
WATCH FULLY FUNCTIONAL
Dimensions: 53 mm diameter (excluding crown) and about 20 mm thickness.
The bright metal dial is dominated by large Arabic numerals and original cathedral hands. Both retain their luminous paint in the radio-original period, wonderfully aged by time toward a warm and genuine dull ochre/brown coloration, highly sought after by collectors as it testifies to the piece’s absolute originality.
Internal Controls:
Opening the first cover reveals the heart of the controls: regulation of the balance lever (R/A - Retard/Advance), winding shaft and alarm setting, and the original lever selector with the labels "Stop / Alarm" to activate or silence the alarm.
• Case: In superb cosmic-condition, polished and mirror-bright, with minimal age-related marks (See photos).
• Dial & Glass: Dial intact and clean, free of cracks or chips. Glass in excellent condition.
• Note for the buyer (Radio): The luminous paint on the numerals is stable and original to the period (the radio).
