Antique central sculptural group in white biscuit porcelain, depicting five putti around a draped table with a floral centerpiece, hand-signed, 20 × 22 × 19 cm, 2 kg, Italy, 1840, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Refined and imposing all-round allegorical sculptural group made in fine white biscuit porcelain, dating from the late 19th / early 20th century.
The composition, extremely intricate and rich in stylized details, depicts five putti/cherubs arranged around a central table finely draped and festooned with garlands of roses and fruity motifs. At the center of the scene rises an elegant raised centerpiece rich in flowers and hand-modeled botanical elements.
The back of the base bears the raw engraving of the maker's/manufacturer's mark, executed directly into the ceramic paste before firing, a typical feature of quality art productions from the Neapolitan area (Capodimonte tradition) and the Tuscan region of the era. On the base there is also the original hole for the structural fastening of the upper part (typically used in period surtout de table).
Conservation Report
The object preserves its splendid original period patina. It shows light and normal signs of aging, with dust accumulations in cavities and minor surface imperfections or microscopic losses on the floral petals/finer details, entirely compatible with the age and the delicacy of unglazed biscuit porcelain.
