Wall crucifix with a radiating sunburst – Wooden cross and Christ's Body in polychrome resin - 20th Century
Elegant and evocative wall crucifix from a collection, characterized by a strong visual impact and careful expressive rendering of the Passion (Christus patiens).
The supporting structure and the arms of the cross are made of solid wood with a double contrast finish. Behind the sacred figure emerges a four-point golden sunburst that symbolizes the divine light of the Resurrection.
The Body of Christ, finished in anatomical detail and facial features, is made of hard polychrome resin, a material that guarantees excellent definition of the crown of thorns and the musculature. The loincloth and the upper cartouche with the inscription "INRI" feature a rich gold finish. The wounds, the side wound, and the drops of blood are entirely hand-painted on the surface with red tones to accentuate the realism of the work.
