Description from the seller
Beautiful Vintage Italian Empoli Glass 'Genie Bottle' Carafe with Flame Stopper – 1960s/1970s
Description
This lot concerns an iconic and highly sought-after vintage Italian 'Genie Bottle' decanter carafe, manufactured in the Empoli region (Tuscany, Italy). These bottles are known for their extravagant shapes and vibrant colors and were the ultimate statement piece within Mid-Century Modern (MCM) interiors in the 60s and 70s.
This particular model is also affectionately called the 'Corset' model by collectors due to its elegant, cinched waist. The carafe is finished in a stunning, deep turquoise / cobalt blue shade that plays beautifully with the light. The body and neck are adorned with a graceful relief pattern of pressed vertical panels. The bottle is crowned with the original, impressive flame stopper.
The item is hand-blown/molded, as seen by the authentic small air bubbles and production lines in the glass, typical of artisanal Italian glassware from this period.
