Description from the seller
Hello.
I am Pierre ANTONIN (SP-Meteorites), project leader of the Saint-Aubin meteorite research project in France since 2018, more information on my website.
Saint Aubin is an iron meteorite, classified Iron IIIAB with a magnificent octahedral structure and many inclusions of troilite and schreibersite.
I specialize in the treatment/restoration of iron meteorites, and since 2019 I have been working on the stabilization process by subcritical fluids (high-pressure/high-temperature dechlorination) which achieves a level of stability never reached before. This very beautiful complete slice of Saint Aubin has benefited from this treatment. My clients are private collectors, professionals, and museums such as the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris.
All my iron meteorites are guaranteed stabilized, an authenticity certificate is provided, and I prioritize the quality of work and after-sales service which is ensured for all my clients.
COUNSEL FOR COLLECTORS:
PURCHASE: Iron meteorites are prone to degradation by oxidation. Before a purchase, carefully check the surface quality that shows the Widmanstätten structure. Be vigilant if there are traces of oxides, as this can worsen; prefer faces without oxidation and without thick varnish. Do not hesitate to zoom in on the photos. For complete meteorites, favor a look without powdery oxidation or oozing, signs of instability, even surfaces that have retained a natural patina must be dry and healthy. Favor sellers who offer guarantees on the stability of the meteorites and after-sales service if needed.
PRESENTATION: All photos are taken in studio with artificial lighting and are not retouched to obtain a rendering as close to reality as possible. The scale cube measures 1x1 cm. To obtain the same look at home, I recommend a display case presentation with appropriate white lighting.
STORAGE: Keep your iron meteorites in the open air or in a display case with humidity levels not exceeding an average of 50 to 60%. If you are in a very humid region or near the sea, store your meteorites in airtight boxes with desiccant to protect them from oxidation.
HANDLING: Handle your iron meteorites preferably with gloves, avoiding touching the revealed faces (apparent structure) which can be contaminated by acidic and salty sweat on your fingers.
Thank you for your trust. Pierre.
