Description from the seller

Introduction José Soler:

Explanation of the work:

Steel is one of the hardest and most resistant materials we have. As a master of steel, I am used to feeling its hardness and strength, and when I see that strength represented in the essence of metallic sculptures. But with this new collection I want to do the opposite, something even more challenging: to endow it with sensitivity and to deceive the viewer by presenting a sculpture made of hard, resistant steel that looks like silk, that seems like a delicate and elegant piece, simple and delicate yet visually powerful.

These are pieces of stainless steel finished with reliefs, with meticulous attention paid to every detail. With them I seek a more relaxed elegance and the desire to produce a deception in the viewer’s mind, like a trompe-l'oeil.

They are forged pieces, crafted with utmost care, in an idyllic setting, in full communion with steel and art. They are born with the sound of every fold, of strength and delicacy, and from there the notes of their movements—apparently crumpled and open—flow.

I am drawn to artisanal, groundbreaking designs; thus, with these vertical, wall-mounted sculptures, I focus on becoming part of a new reality where I seek color, texture, and sinuous shapes. Who would say this is steel? These sculptures, with a magically crumpled appearance, make me revere this primitive material, for it makes everything possible, without limits to creation or creativity. Even steel can look as light as silk.

The piece plays with a mirror effect, causing light to bounce and create spectacular plays of light and shadow. Creating a sculpture at the forefront of contemporary art.

Hangs as easily as a painting.

José Soler is a sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally as well as in Monaco, Italy and France. Through each of his pieces, he strives to bring to the surface the melody that lives inside each of us. Soler cites the conversion of cold steel into sculpture as his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only be perceived with universal feelings.
