Magni Sfida 1000 – #1 – Round Barrel, 949 cc V‑Twin engine, first registered in 1993.
Description from the seller
Magni Sfida 1000 — Frame number #1 - The World’s Only 'Round Barrel' Magni
Proudly we present a motorcycle that transcends the term 'rare': the Magni Sfida 1000 with frame number SF*001. Hand-built by the legendary master builder Arturo Magni (the iconic race manager behind MV Agusta’s countless world titles), this is the absolute blueprint specimen and the patriarch of the legendary Sfida series.
This is not just number one out of a series. This specific unit is the very first Sfida ever built and the ONLY Sfida 1000 in the world equipped with the legendary 'round barrel' (round cylinder) Moto Guzzi engine. The factory in Samarate simply never produced a second with this engine configuration. This makes this machine an unrepeatable, unique factory specimen—a pure one-of-one masterpiece.
Technical Specifications & Factory-Unique
• Frame number: #001 – The very first Sfida 1000 to leave the workshop.
• Engine: The only Sfida with the sought-after 'round barrel' 949cc two-valve V-Twin block. Mechanically fed by two brute 40 mm Dell’Orto carburettors, this 'pumped up' factory special delivers a sensational soundtrack.
• Chassis: Magni’s signature, hand-welded red chrome-molybdenum tubing frame linked to the revolutionary 'Parallelogrammo' rear suspension. This patented system completely eliminates the reaction forces of the cardan drive for unparalleled stable handling.
• Wheels: Fitted with the original, extremely rare lightweight 18-inch EPM cast wheels (the iconic magnesium/light alloy "Magni wheels") that perfectly suit the early endurance-race look of this prototype.
• Design: Timeless Italian elegance with the hand-formed aluminum fuel tank, a sporty top-fairing, and the distinctive solo seat.
Condition and Restoration
This moving work of art has recently undergone a full, uncompromising and documented restoration. No expense has been spared to bring this unique machine back to absolute concours condition, exactly as Arturo Magni created it at the time. Since restoration, the motorcycle has covered only minimal test and inspection mileage.
Your chance to own motor history
While a 'normal' Sfida 1000 (of which only about 58 were built) is rare on the market, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You are not bidding on a production motorcycle but on the historical prototype and the only one of its kind. A machine that deserves a prominent place in the world’s most exclusive collections or museums.
This lot is supplied with the complete restoration documentation. Seize this unique opportunity, bid boldly, and become the owner of an irreplaceable piece of Italian motor history.
A historic rarity. The ultimate Holy Grail for international motorcycle collectors.
Transport can be arranged on request.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
