Description from the seller
Authentic Moto Guzzi BOTT Racer — Ex-LAVA Racing Team - With License Plate
A legendary piece of motorsport history. A radical racer, superior to the street-legal Daytona.
With pride we present a dream for connoisseurs and collectors:
An original Moto Guzzi BOTT (Battle of the Twins) Racer. This is not a standard factory model with a few circuit tweaks, but a radical, uncompromising development from the LAVA Guzzi Racing Team (the legendary alliance between Teo Lamers and Sergio Valentini).
A sister specimen of this famed team is today permanently on display in the official Moto Guzzi Museum in Mandello del Lario.
This specific unit was successfully chased across the circuits in the late 1990s in the heart-stopping Battle of the Twins class by rider Peter Jansen.
Although this racer is built around the famed, ultrastiff Moto Guzzi Daytona frame, the comparison to a street-legal Daytona ends there. The LAVA Racing Team has extensively altered, improved, and optimized the machine for pure circuit work at almost every point:
• The Unique Twin-Cam Heart: Instead of the standard four-valve powerplant, the team consciously chose a true twin-valve configuration. This engine is fully custom-built with a modified bore and stroke, specifically developed to generate truly enormous torque in the low to mid-range. This creates brutal, explosive acceleration out of corners that, at the time, left many modern racers behind Peter Jansen.
• Extreme Weight Reduction: Every superfluous gram from the street version has been eliminated. Thanks to a minimalist race wiring harness, lightweight materials, and the omission of all street Restrictions, this machine is many times lighter and more agile than a standard Daytona.
• Chassis at Circuit Level: The geometry and suspension are fully adjusted and finely tuned to transfer the immense torque with surgical precision to the asphalt.
The Ultimate Bonus: Valid License Plate
Unique for a full-blooded racer with this impressive racing history is that there is a valid/sleeping license plate on the motorcycle (linked to the Daytona frame). This gives the machine a rare legal identity and a huge added value for anyone who would ever want to make it street-legal again in the future.
Condition and Presentation
The racer is in a fabulous, authentic condition. It embodies the raw atmosphere of the BOTT paddocks. Technically the motorcycle has been fully serviced and start-ready. Whether the machine is used for historic demo races, or added as an absolute showpiece to a high-end collection, the historical and technical payload is priceless.
This lot is delivered with the accompanying license plate. Place your bid and become the custodian of this LAVA Guzzi legend.
Export and transport can be arranged on request.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
