Description from the seller
LC7 Armchair – Design by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand – Production Cassina
We present at auction a masterpiece of rare elegance and collectible charm: the legendary swiveling LC7 armchair. First presented at the Paris Salon d'Automne in 1929, the famous LC furniture series conceived by the exceptional trio Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand has sparked acclaim for its ability to exalt the function of objects themselves. An icon of 20th-century design offered in this auction in its most classic, noble, and refined form: black lacquered steel frame and high-quality black leather upholstery. A work of art of international design.
Design and history:
The LC7 represents the sublime synthesis between ergonomic research and the geometric rigor of the Modern Movement.
Craftsmanship: the model's unmistakable signature is the refined curved tubular structure that harmoniously supports the barrel-shaped backrest-armrest and the cushioned circular seat.
Versatility: the three masters of modernism have calibrated the geometries by introducing a rotating mechanism for the seat, transforming the armchair into a versatile and dynamic piece, perfect for both living spaces and a study.
Auction lot conditions:
The LC7 on auction presents in excellent used condition.
Upholstery: the premium black leather upholstery is in excellent general condition, without cuts or tears and with only the natural signs of wear that attest to its authenticity. The leather has been thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and treated with professional nourishing products to revive its appearance and softness.
Frame: the steel black-lacquered frame is solid and robust and shows only light signs of use consistent with the item's age.
Functionality: the seat rotation mechanism is smooth and fully functional.
Authenticity: originality is guaranteed by the production code stamped on the frame.
