Description from the seller
Pub. The complete works of Publius Ovidius Naso, divided into three volumes from the most accurate edition by Nicol. Heinsius. With the most select notes by various authors, on all his books; and with the most artistically wrought copper engravings, prefixed to each book of the Metamorphoses, indicating their arguments. With the most ample indexes, both of content and of words: a very neat, most accurate edition. Edited by Cornelis Schrevelius. From death immortality - Leiden, Pieter Leffen, 1662- 3 parts - (18) 667 (16); (6) 832 (29); (14) 400 (28), 492 (7) pp - beautiful seventeenth-century brown leather bindings, which on both the spine and the front and back boards are richly decorated with gold-stamped frames and corner and central ornaments with gilding on the edge
Good. Some wear and bumping spots. Inner hinges slightly open and inner margins in places slightly open - book blocks fixed in the binding. Exlibris on the cover and endpaper. Interior browned, here and there a spot. Some dog-ears. A tear, 1 cm, in the margin of four leaves
part 2: left edge at the top about 1 cm open, bump on the side margin pages 817 to 832, back cover board loose
3: right edge at the top about 1½ cm torn. Water stain at the top inner margin on most pages and at the bottom inner margin of the first 10 leaves and between pages 250 and 350 of the first part
