This Louis XIV-style antique candlestick is made of brass and dates from the early 18th century.
Description from the seller
Stately, authentic candelabrum from the late 17th century. Made of bronze or yellow copper.
The candlestick features a characteristic wide octagonal base with subtle contour lines and an elegantly profiled stem.
A notable element is the casting gate in the stem, used during the manual casting process with a sand- or clay-mold. In addition, the underside of the base shows the completely intact original tin solder plug. The candle holder is equipped with a discharge hole, through which candle residues could be removed.
The candelabrum has developed a beautiful dark patina and natural wear from centuries of use.
The candelabrum is 17.5 cm high. The base is 10 cm wide/deep. Weight is about 460 g.
