VOLTA presents The Lion's Gentle Watch, an original 2026 acrylic painting by hand-signed artist, depicting a nocturnal scene of calm and curiosity with a sleeping figure and a nearby lion, on a canvas measuring 80 x 100 cm (image 70 x 90 cm).
Description from the seller
In the desert at night, under a full moon and a sky peppered with stars, a sleeping figure rests wrapped in a multicolored striped cloak, the mandolin and the amphora abandoned at her side. The lion approaching her is not threatening: it sniffs, observes, lingering in a gesture that could be curiosity or guardianship. Pink petals drift slowly over the scene, scattered like a silent rain that slows time. Volta lights the palette with flashes of pink and blue among the night shadows, giving movement back to an image that tradition had kept still and suspended. Sleep here is not vulnerability but a threshold: a moment in which danger softens in presence. It is a nocturne that hums with color even in the dark, where calm and tension coexist without resolving.

Volta’s research moves along the path of a return—not nostalgic, but active. The great tradition of European painting is the starting point: the period each work evokes, in turn. But the gesture with which this heritage is traversed is unequivocally contemporary. Color does not illustrate; it breathes. The brushstroke does not describe; it vibrates. What remains of the past is the deep structure—a certain idea of the body, of space, of light—while the surface is all-present, all alive. Volta does not quote; she restitutes: her compositions seem to emerge from a shared cultural memory, brought to light with different eyes.
