Brevetto Ferroviario Big Size-B.P. per Aspera ad Astra, 58 mm diameter, 125 g, Argentan case, period 1850–1900, manual-winding movement, a large, heavy pocket chronometer of the Second Half of the 19th Century in very good condition with minimal signs of wear and in working order.
Description from the seller
Beautiful, massive, and very old pocket railway chronometer, Swiss patent from the second half of the 19th century, B.P. with Rosskopf escapement, Per Aspera Ad Astra, with a case in Argentone. Large in size indeed, it weighs over 120 grams and has a so-called 'Goliath' diameter of 58 mm from left to right, and when I said massive I was also referring to the thickness, which is very slim—just under 2 cm. The condition you can observe with your own eyes: a light patina on the front part of the metal case, and then very few other marks, mostly visible only with magnification, so in my view the condition is excellent considering its more than 130 years of age. As for the functioning, the watch runs well; it might require lubrication and cleaning to optimize performance, but it might not be necessary.
