Description from the seller
Born in 1977, Jone Hopper is a French artist. In the late 1980s, he got his start on the street through an emerging movement at the time: graffiti. He tags his name on the street, on walls and on trains. Known for his characters and aerosol signatures, he founded the collective TBS (The Brutal Style) with Skepa and a few other committed graffiti writers. We know little about him because the artist remains faithful to the spirit of graffiti and wishes to stay anonymous, considering that the work should be highlighted and not the figure. Non-existent on social media, absent from openings, a faceless artist, he remains a real mystery except to a few gallery owners in the know. He compares his painting to a hip hop track, borrowing from Basquiat, Keith Haring, Picasso, Matisse, Andy Warhol, or even Bacon; he draws from all art movements, from Modern to Contemporary, passing through Classical, acting like a sampler... he samples, cuts, assembles, and thus creates new images.
