Subject and Theme:
"HAUNTED NIGHT V.1 & BLUE SMOKE V.1" is a nocturnal, playful diptych that takes two pop culture creatures and lights them up as signs: one suspended in an impressionist sky, the other seated in darkness with the air of someone who has seen it all.

In "HAUNTED NIGHT V.1" a small sneering ghost floats above a rural cemetery. The sky is a vortex of blue and purple brushstrokes with a golden moon spinning on itself, while below crosses and tombstones disappear into the dark grass. A magenta neon traces its jagged silhouette and separates it from the night like a luminous apparition.

In "BLUE SMOKE V.1" the protagonist is instead a small turtle-like creature with an inscrutable gaze: dark round glasses, a lit cigar between its lips, red t-shirt, and a gold chain around its neck. The background is absolute black, smoke swirls upward in thin spirals, and an electric blue neon traces its entire profile, turning a cartoon character into a nightclub figure.

Technique and Creation:
Both works combine art print on a rigid support with hand-applied LED neon, which mirrors the full silhouette of the character: magenta in the first, blue in the second.
Two atmospheres balance: the tactile, vortical painting of the first, built with small brushstrokes, and the cinematic realism of the second, made of grazing light, skin, and fabric. In both, the neon functions as a hand-drawn outline, which by day remains a graphic mark and by night becomes the sole source of light.
Hanging side by side, magenta and blue meet on the wall in a bold contrast, perfect for a bedroom, a game room, a studio, or a venue.

Inspiration and Curiosity:
The sky of "HAUNTED NIGHT V.1" openly nods to Vincent van Gogh, who knew cemeteries well: in 1885 he painted the old cemetery around the tower of Nuenen, and a few years later, in 1889, he created his most famous night by looking out the window of his room in the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence asylum, adding the village below as pure invention.
Nor is the color pairing in the lottery accidental: Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo about his studies on complementary colors, the pairings that when placed next to each other intensify one another. Magenta and blue do exactly this, in two different paintings.
"BLUE SMOKE V.1" instead plays with a contemporary short circuit: a character born to make children smile, dressed in the codes of adult streetwear, where even the world’s most imitated red-square logo was born in 1994 from the storefront of a New York skate shop.
A diptych designed for those who grew up among video games and sneakers and want a wall that changes character completely by night.
