Description from the seller
Marc Gonz
resistance.
In front of one of his paintings, we don’t look at an image. We face an inner landscape — a tactile memory we didn’t know we carried within us.
The way Marc Gonz works consists in burying layer after layer; in this process of burying, a face is formed, part of the disorder and the error to find harmony. Marc Gonz's works through matter and color present us with a distorted version of reality. The brutality and density of the brushwork show us a visceral piece, sometimes vibrant, grotesque and primitive, but at the same time it expresses deep emotions that remind us of the ancestral, spiritual, going to the essence without artifices, an excavation of the soul. With a blend of abstraction and expressionism, they create a transformation of the human form, where its meaning is transcended. All of this gives us an idea of his complexity and guides us along the path to the deepest unconscious. The artist himself makes his own paintings, achieving a impasto technique in which the density of the painting is recreated by molding large overflowing masses of paint. The volume of the brushstrokes makes the works almost sculptural, creating microcosms that take on their own identity when we approach.
