Description from the seller

Title

Ceramica “Vecchia Gualdo” – Madonna with Child and Infant Saint John – hand painted, gold and ruby luster – certified No. 5111

Description

A precious decorative work created by Ceramica “Vecchia Gualdo” of Gualdo Tadino (Perugia, Italy), an important center of Umbrian ceramic tradition.

The work depicts the Madonna with Child and the Infant Saint John, in accordance with Italian Renaissance iconography. The composition is characterized by a refined painting execution, with particular care given to the flesh tones, draperies, and the landscape in the background.

As evidenced by the original guarantee certificate No. 5111, still present on the reverse, the piece was entirely handmade with the collaboration of artists using the traditional Mastro Giorgio (1465–1553) shimmering techniques, with gold and ruby luster. The certificate also states that the work belongs to a limited production, cataloged and progressively numbered.

The piece retains on the back both the certificate and the original label from the Ceramica “Vecchia Gualdo” – Gualdo Tadino (PG), Italy.

Presented in an important classic-gold frame, richly decorated at the corners and along the profile, which especially enhances the composition.
