Constant Permeke (1886-1952) - Marine

An expressive seascape with a glowing evening sky in ochre, green and gray above a calm sea, against which two dark sailing boats silhouette against the horizon. The loose, paste-like brushwork and the muted, earthy color palette are characteristic of the early oeuvre of the Flemish expressionist, known for his powerful interpretations of the Flemish coast.

Signature: bottom left "Permeke"
Frame: Antique, restored gilded frame

Constant Permeke (1886-1952) - Marine

Signatuur: linksonder "Permeke"
Lijst: Antiek, gerestaureerd vergulde kader
Provenance: P.G. Genval
