Few artists captured the intensity of nature like Vincent van Gogh. Painted in Arles in 1888 and today held at the Kröller-Müller Museum, "Willows at Sunset" is one of his most expressive small landscapes. In this vibrant reinterpretation, Tony Fernandez places Donald Duck at the heart of the scene: a weary but determined field worker crossing a blazing countryside beneath a radiant golden sun.

Fiery oranges, yellows and reds fill the canvas. The twisted willows, the dramatic horizon and the energetic brushwork echo the emotional power of Van Gogh's original, while Donald brings humour and nostalgia. He is not just a guest in the landscape, but part of its story, struggling against the heat and the overwhelming energy of nature.

Painted in acrylic on canvas with expressive colour, movement and texture, the work is a perfect example of Fernandez's "Inspired By" series: a dialogue between Disney animation and the great masters of art.
