Set of 6 original Bozner candle holders, handmade in the late 60s.
The THUN workshop in the city of Bolzano in the Italian South Tyrol was founded in 1950 by Otmar Graf von Thun und Hohenstein and Hélène Grabmeyer von Angersheim. Both had a passion for ceramics from a young age. From their first workshop in the cellar of Schloss Klebenstein, Lene Thun designed all kinds of objects, such as vases, tableware and animal figures.
One evening she designs an angel that she paints colorfully and finishes with gold details.
This dreamy figure with closed eyes and a slightly bowed neck becomes an unprecedented success.
This is probably because the appearance of the Bozner Angel suggests a blessed world. Each figurine is hand-painted in warm matte tones with gilded details and belongs to the early Thun production.
This set of collector items consists of:
2 angels, height 22 cm, bottom Ø 15 cm:
- white/light blue/gold;
- red/green/gold;
1 white/gold angel, height 20 cm, bottom Ø 12 cm;
1 pink/gold angel, height 16 cm, bottom Ø 12 cm;
a pair of two, white/gold:
- standing, height 14 cm, bottom Ø 9 cm;
- sitting, height 12 cm, bottom Ø 9 cm.
These candle holders bring (Christmas) atmosphere and coziness to every home.
All figurines are in good vintage condition considering their age. No chips, no cracks.
