Rare two-part illustrated work with numerous representations of ancient gems and their figurative motifs, including portraits, gods and mythological figures.

With a portrait and title copperplate at the beginning as well as over 200 copper engravings in total.

Copper plates 16-28, 118 and 119 are missing in the first part and 30, 31 in the second part.

The first part has at the beginning 3 individual copperplates and afterwards 199 of 214. The second part is equipped with 49 of 51 copper engravings.
In total 251 of 268 copper engravings are present.

The pages are in good condition, partly a bit browned and occasionally slightly stained.

Bound in a contemporary parchment binding.
