A true treasure for collectors and lovers of classic illustrated literature.

This is a book of fairy tales so special that it deserves a description worthy of it, one in which you, the bidder and future reader, become the protagonist:

Once upon a time there was a reader who believed he was looking for a book. He did not yet know that, in truth, the book was looking for him.

On a silent shelf, far from the noise of the world, an old volume lay sleeping: the first edition of the Brothers Grimm’s tales, adorned with forty illustrations by Arthur Rackham. When it was opened, the trees began to bend, the paths grew darker, and the shadows learned how to speak. It was not a book to be read quickly, but one to step into.

Rackham had drawn these tales as one recalls an ancient dream: with lines both delicate and twisted, alive. His forests were not kind; they were wise. His creatures explained nothing; they waited. And every image seemed to whisper: this is how it was told the first time.

Whoever gazed upon those pages understood something essential: before fairy tales became sweet, they were profound; before they became children’s stories, they were true. And that truth had been captured there, intact, in that very edition, like a spell perfectly cast.

As the years passed, copies like this one began to disappear. Some found refuge in libraries from which they would never emerge; others were lost forever. Fewer and fewer remained, and those that survived learned the art of not waiting too long.

The reader closed the book with care. He then understood that not all things come into our lives to be possessed: some come to make us dream. And he realized that there are decisions not made by reason, but by an ancient intuition that recognizes what already belongs to it.

From that day on, the book was never alone again.

And the reader, each time he passed before his shelf, would smile: he had learned that true fairy tales never truly end— they simply find the one who is meant to keep them.
