Borek Sipek - Platter - Glass - bowl / catch-all tray

Massive glass bowl/vide poche,
design Borek Sípek,
Czechia/the Netherlands 1980s.

A beautiful, solid glass object by the well-known Czech glass artist/architect/furniture designer Borek Sípek (1949-2016). He ran his own studio in the Netherlands for many years.
The bowl sits on four rounded legs and rises stepwise to a square with a recessed prism form.
Signed SIPEK on the bottom.

In this object all geometric shapes come together: circle, trapezoid, square, octagon, prism, etc.
The original design featured a green glass carafe; this is an alternative with a red glass ball.
The bowl is beautiful in itself, but can also be used as an ashtray or vide poche.
Diameter 18 cm, height 6.5 cm.

On a very small glaze flake at the bottom edge, otherwise completely intact.
