Title: Cherub Musician Sculpture - Virgile Morey (Act. 1883-1895) - Signed - Late 19th Century
Description:
• Author: Virgile Morey (active in France between 1883 and 1895). Signed work.
• Iconography: Allegorical figure depicting a putto or musical cherub holding a flute. Early Art Nouveau / French Academic style.
• Materials: Freestanding sculpture made of cast metal with remnants of a gilded patina. Mounted on a cylindrical light-colored natural marble base.
• Anchoring: Original fastening system consisting of an iron threaded rod and a square bronze/brass nut embedded in the reverse of the plinth.
• Markings: Author's signature ("Virgile Morey") incised in the metal base. Retains a handwritten inventory/lot number label on the underside of the marble (25779/1 2x).
• Dimensions: Total height of 23 cm.
